Vertical Beehive

Bees have been domesticated by humans for thousands of years. In doing so, we have provided bee colonies a comfortable life so that they can concentrate their energy solely on producing honey. The resulting reduced robustness of bees and environmental degradation have led to the mass extinction of bee colonies. All the more reason for humans to become aware of their symbiotic relationship with bees and help them to find their way back to an environment closer to nature. This beehive imitates a tree hollow in terms of its verticality, volume and structural properties. In order to explore and train the behavior of bees, several flight holes and various spatial constellations for open and/or frame construction are provided. Symbolically, the construction with the heavy stone on the hive is unbalanced and is held in a balancing act by bracings. These represent the fragile symbiosis between humans, bees and nature, in which no part can hold the structure without the others. The beehive represents a modern totem that symbolizes and symbolizes the connection between man, bees and nature.
